Abstract

This study analyzes the growth and diversification of fixed internet technologies (FIT) in Jordan from 2017 to 2023, evaluates the correlation between FIT and the number of registered digital enterprises, and understands digital entrepreneurs’ perceptions regarding the influence of fixed internet characteristics (FICs) on their digital entrepreneurial intentions (DEI). Using a mixed methodology, Phase I employs secondary data analysis of subscriber trends (ռ = 7 years), and Phase II leverages primary data collection to assess the influence of FICs on DEI through structural equation modeling, testing six hypotheses. Four are related to FICs (speed, reliability, accessibility, and cost), and two are moderators (digital skills and regulatory environment). The analysis reveals significant trends in the adoption of reliable internet. Post-2020, a marked recovery in business registrations was observed, with digital companies growing by 79.14 percent. In Phase II, speed, reliability, and accessibility exhibited strong positive influences on DEI, while costs demonstrated a negative effect. This is the first study in Jordan to take such an approach.
