Entrepreneurial intentions among academics in Nigeria: The mediating role of self-efficacy

Abstract

This study examined the influence of strike actions and self-efficacy on entrepreneurial intention, the mediating role of self-efficacy, and the moderating role of gender. An online survey was conducted with 242 Nigerian academics. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze connections between constructs. The study revealed that strike actions do not influence entrepreneurial intention among academics. Conversely, self-efficacy emerged as a significant factor positively influencing the entrepreneurial intentions of Nigerian academics. Also, gender does not influence the relationship between strike action and entrepreneurial intention, but it does moderate the relationship between self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intention. Female academics are more influenced by self-efficacy than are their male counterparts.
