Towards uncertainty of End-of-Use product recycling: a general screw connection-oriented disassembly analysis

Abstract

With the rise of sustainability and circular economics, the recycling of End-of-Use (EOU) products, such as Electric Vehicle batteries, has increased. However, the diversity in product types and structures reduces disassembly efficiency in large-scale recycling. To efficiently achieve dynamic disassembly of EOU products, it is essential to thoroughly analyse the connection modes of each product in relation to the uncertainties in EOU product recycling. By considering the screw connection as a common connection type, a screw connection-oriented disassembly method is proposed to analyse the flexible disassembly operations by comparing the disassembly torque and angle testing data as main parameters. Furthermore, the data anomalies of disassembly operations caused by the uncertainty of screw connection can be detected through CNN-GRU model. Similarly, the co-rotation effect might be caused during the process of screw disassembly, resulting in the failure automatic disassembly. The internal mechanism of screw disassembly determines whether a co-rotation effect occurs, which can be detected through angle measurement, enabling timely disassembly through manual intervention. Finally, the proposed method is verified through disassembly experiments on a similar battery structure, where abnormal data with significant deviations are identified by comparing the monitoring data with the predictive data.
