Development of the Jewish Settlement of Olomouc: geographic and socioeconomic structure of the Jewish population in the peroid of 1180–2021

Abstract

This paper demonstrates how GIS-based maps and spatial analyses can effectively present complex research findings in Jewish Studies, particularly Jewish history. Using the map Development of the Jewish Settlement of Olomouc: Geographic and Socioeconomic Structure of the Jewish Population in the Period of 1180–2021, based on archival data and visualized through GIS, we show how spatial interpretation of historical data enhances understanding and accessibility. Such approaches offer a powerful means of integrating Jewish history into broader national narratives, contributing to the ongoing revision of Czech national history and supporting primary research, education, and public engagement.
