A s-band image rejection mixer based on microstrip with high image rejection ratio

Abstract

This paper presents an image rejection mixer (IRM) with a high image rejection ratio (IRR), which is suitable for S-band radar systems. Traditional IRMs are limited by factors such as the amplitude-phase imbalance of quadrature couplers and poor device consistency, leading to a significant decrease in IRR when operating in a wide frequency band. To address the above issues, our improvement measures include: adding a fan-shaped stub to the output port of the quadrature coupler; adding a parallel stub to the output port of the single balanced mixer (SBM); replacing the $ 50\Omega $ 50Ω load terminal with a matched load. The simulation and test results show that the IRR of the IRM reaches 27.8 dB.
