Abstract

The present paper deals with an approach to investigate the rectangular waveguide (RWG) using the conformal mapping technique, where the rectangular shape is converted to a sectoral one for the theoretical investigation. The wave equation is solved in the transformed domain to obtain the eigenfunction and the eigenvalue. The cut-off frequency and the internal field patterns for different $ TE $ TE and $ TM $ TM modes of the rectangular waveguide are investigated. The $ f - {k_z}({ = \beta } ) $ f−kz(=β) diagrams for different modes of RWG are plotted using the conformal mapping technique. The wave impedance of the RWG for different $ TE $ TE and $ TM $ TM modes are also investigated. Our theoretical results are compared with the conventional technique of RWG, as found in the open literature. It is found that the results obtained using our theory are in excellent agreement with published data.
