Gaussian beam scattering from a DNG chiral coated PEMC cylinder buried below slightly rough surface

Abstract

Scattering from a perfect electromagnetic conducting (PEMC) cylinder coated with double negative (DNG) chiral material buried below a slightly rough Gaussian surface is studied. To limit the amount of reflected energy from the surface, the incident field is considered a Gaussian beam instead of a plane wave. Use of Small perturbation method (SPM) and spectral plane wave representation of fields (SPRF) has been done to calculate the scattered field above the rough surface. A sinusoidal and Gaussian rough surfaces are considered. Since the general case with PEMC core and DNG chiral coating is considered here. The earlier published results for perfect electric conductor (PEC) core with chiral coating are obtained by selecting proper parameters in this generalized solution for the validation of the formulation. Different scattering scenarios are simulated by varying the chirality and thickness of the coating layer. Effect of correlation length of rough surface on scattering pattern is also analyzed.
