Human effect exposed to UWB signal for WBAN application

Abstract

In this paper, the specific absorption (SA) distribution in a human body, exposed to ultra-wideband (UWB) pulse, has been analyzed by taking into account the dispersion characteristics of biological tissues. The dispersive properties of biological tissues are characterized by the 4-pole Cole-Cole model. However, implementing the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method of the 4-pole Cole-Cole model requires many resources and the calculation time. The complicated dispersive characteristics of biological tissues create difficulties in the analysis of exposure assessment by on-body devices. Because UWB frequency band is from 3.1 to 10.6 GHz, the dispersive characteristic may be sufficient to the 1-pole Cole-Cole model. In this paper, we fitted the 4-pole Cole-Cole model by the 1-pole Cole-Cole model for the given UWB band. The fitted results are in good agreement with the 4-pole Cole-Cole model. The FDTD method with the dispersive algorithm for the 1-pole Cole-Cole model was applied using SA analysis of the human body exposed to a UWB pulse signal.
