Strategic alignment and its effects on employee engagement: empirical evidences from Ethiopian education sector

Abstract

The objective of this study was to investigate the correlation between strategy alignment and employee engagement. To achieve this, quantitative methods and explanatory research design were employed by employing a random selection technique. The data collected underwent confirmatory factor analysis and path analysis using structural equation models. The findings of this study demonstrate that strategic alignment has a significant and positive impact on employee engagement within Ethiopian higher educational institutions. Additionally, all three dimensions of strategic alignment utilized to assess the relationship between strategic alignment and employee engagement showed statistically significant results. Based on these findings, it is recommended that organizational leaders clearly articulate their strategic intentions with well-defined objectives. Furthermore, governing bodies should encourage employee engagement by establishing defined roles and processes for all employees, thereby facilitating the accomplishment of organizational goals.
