Abstract

This paper describes the traditional relationships between political boundaries and tourism from a bordering perspective. It then highlights the dynamics of border fluidity by examining how debordering and rebordering processes influence tourism or are influenced by tourism. The paper then analyzes the main contributions to this special issue and summarizes the main themes as cross-border cooperation in tourism marketing and development, the heritagization process of borders as tourism commodities, and borderlands as regions of refugee mobility and how hospitality plays a key role in integrating and welcoming refugees.
