Abstract

Considering the significance of FDI inflows, this paper investigates the nexus between green finance and green FDI, using institutional quality as a moderator. The sample consists of data from 28 nations spanning 2008–2022. These outcomes imply that green finance has a detrimental impact on green FDI inflows. We also find that the influence of green finance on green investment activities might not be apparent in the short term but may turn in an advantageous direction in the long term. Furthermore, the in-depth analysis suggests that institutional quality plays a significant moderating role in this relationship, which offers insight into certain aspects of institutions that may strengthen the relationship between green finance and green FDI.
