Abstract

This paper examines the structure, mechanisms, and regulations governing the Social Stock Exchange (SSE) in India. It also makes a SWOT analysis of the new framework of Indian SSE which is crucial to understand strengths, weaknesses and potential threats and opportunities for SSE in India, for further enhancing its effectiveness for the development of the social sector. SSE serves as a trading platform for the listing of social organisations so that they can raise funds in form of equity, debt or mutual funds by attracting socially-conscious investors and can be a potential solution to the problem of funding faced by social enterprises in India.
