Abstract

This paper offers a critical analysis of the Swedish Food Strategy and planning for food preparedness at the regional level, by analysing prospects and barriers of regional food security, and the tensions between policy and planning for food security and the local realities of farmers, local authorities, and rural actors who, at the micro level, deal with the challenges of sustainable agriculture and food production. The paper analyses interviews, seminars, visits to farms and policies for the implementation of the Food Strategy for Sweden. The conceptual framing for the paper draws from food regime analysis and sustainability transition literature.
