Abstract

The examination of spatial planning in Greece entails a comprehensive analysis of its historical development, contemporary challenges, and prospective trajectories. This investigation delves into the nuanced aspects of the development of the planning framework, elucidates the existing challenges and offers informed perspectives on potential answers and future directions. By presenting a critical overview of spatial planning development in twentieth-century Greece, highlighting current impediments and future possibilities, this study aims to provide a rigorous and authoritative exploration of the spatial planning landscape. Finally, it advocates the introduction of novel mechanisms deemed essential for the effective implementation of a modernised spatial planning system in the country.
