Abstract

This paper examines listed agricultural enterprises in China as research samples, utilizing monthly data from 2013 to 2023 to analyse their price risk exposures. Empirical analysis reveals that many agricultural enterprises exhibit significant price risk exposures. State-owned agricultural enterprises face greater price risk exposures compared to private enterprises. Large-scale agricultural enterprises display larger price risk exposures than small-scale enterprises. Single-directional agricultural enterprises typically face higher price risk exposures than dual-directional counterparts. Engaging in hedging through agricultural derivatives proves beneficial in mitigating price risk exposures. Agricultural product enterprises with higher innovation levels show greater price risk exposure compared to those with lower innovation levels.
