Abstract
Purpose: This study explores the effect of smart manufacturing implementation and how it will help to improve the effectiveness of the supply chain through advanced supply chain capabilities. It also examines the moderating impact of absorptive responsiveness and recovery capabilities.Methodology: Responses were collected from 511 supply chain professionals from various fields through a questionnaire. Using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM), the suggested model was examined.Findings: A study indicates that smart manufacturing implementation significantly enhances supply chain visibility, incorporates automated supply chains, and modernizes supply chain procedures. Integrated digital supply chains and modern practices positively affect supply chain performance, but visibility alone does not have a significant direct impact. Absorption and recovery capabilities significantly impact the relation between digital supply chain capabilities and performance, while response capability does not.Implications/Originality/Value: This study provides a conceptual framework that helps to understand the integration of smart manufacturing and programmed supply chain capabilities and enables enterprises to reconfigure resources to find the disruption in a developing economy. The results emphasize that if you want to achieve continuous performance improvement, it is necessary to invest in the digital technologies along with learning and recovery capabilities.
