Abstract

Zusammenfassung Inhaltliches Fundament zahlreicher Stabilitäts-, Produktivitäts- und Rentabilitätsanalysen zur Bankenwirtschaft ist die präzise Einschätzung der Wettbewerbsverhältnißse. Aus theoretischer Sicht steht hierzu eine ganze Reihe an alternativen Konzepten zur Verfügung. Gleichwohl gestaltet sich die Operationalisierung der Maße aufgrund regionaler Marktbedingungen, individueller Geschäftsmodelle und der zumeist hohen Datenerfordernisse als äußerst schwierig. Erhebliche Divergenzen und widersprüchliche Ergebnisse offenbart der Abgleich von über 50 Studien aus vier Jahrzehnten. Mit Blick auf die Belast- und Vergleichbarkeit ordnungspolitischer Rückschlüsse bleibt daher die Frage zu klären, welches Maß in der Praxis zu favorisieren ist.
