Abstract

The vast array of scientific contributions by Professor C. R. Rao has inspired considerable research in all fields of empirical sciences. The special issue of the Journal of Quantitative Economics (JQE), in honor of Professor C. R. Rao, is intended to be forward-looking, hoping to encourage young economists and econometricians to understand the influence of Rao’s contributions to economics and econometrics, to dig deeper into various gems among Professor Rao’s contributions which remain to be explored further and to review the recent advances in Bayesian analysis, high-dimensional data analysis and other areas with possible applications to economics and econometrics. Economic data are often truncated and/or censored, and yet Rao’s weighted distribution remains to see more applications.
