Abstract

This study analyzed citizen evaluations of the living environment in Fujisawa City, with a particular focus on smart city initiatives. The purpose of the study was to identify the key factors that influence residents’ satisfaction with daily life and their overall evaluation of the city, and to examine how these factors relate to policy priorities such as safety, healthcare, child-rearing, and the use of digital technologies. By integrating statistical analyses such as correlation and path analysis with citizen perspectives, the study aimed to provide evidence-based insights that can guide local governments in promoting sustainable urban development and citizen-centered smart city policies. The influence of each living environment item on living satisfaction was estimated by path analysis. Results indicate that, in the case of Fujisawa citizens, a good child-rearing environment has a positive impact on livability, and increasing the level of citizen participation for future technology-based community development is necessary.
