Abstract
The bibliometric analysis study discusses the sustainability-related research trends in production, operations, and consumption from 2000–2024. In the context of increased environmental degradation and depletion of specific resources, such a review becomes relevant and calls for implementing environmental concerns into the company’s value-creation process. The study analysed 158 Scopus publications, remarking that scholarly production increased substantially, particularly after 2010, because people worldwide became more aware of sustainability problems. Among the relevant results, it was remarked that the Journal of Cleaner Production plays a leading role, while Chinese and Italian experts have developed more essential contributions. Citation metrics, co-authorship networks, and keyword mapping have been used to identify the significant theme evolutions, authors, and publications. The insights show a trend toward the circular economy, adopting advanced technologies like IoT and big data to maximise production efficiency while waste reduction is consithe dered. This study, therefore, concludes with the need for collaborative work across disciplines on varied issues of sustainability, further research in the fields of long-term impacts, consumer behaviour, and the role of emerging technology. These all bring a critical need to infuse sustainability into companies’ operations if they remain competitive and responsive to ever-increasing global environmental concerns.
