Abstract

In the 1980s many developing countries that have removed the restrictions on the capital movements by adopting financial liberalization policies to eliminate the source shortages have experienced severe financial crises which are becoming frequent at intervals. These crises occurred in developing countries and the problems they created raised the arguments about the capital flows to developing countries. Therefore the opinions emphasizing the necessity of taking measures to restrict these movements have become a current issue. The purpose of this study is to analyze and make a general evaluation of capital controls that come into question in order to remove the effects of the international capital movements causing instability on economies of developing countries after consecutive financial crises that occurred in the 1990s from the perspective of reasons, types and various country experiences.
