Abstract

A project approved by Ewa Kopacz, Minister of Health, was the reason of writing this article. According to this project, of 1 July 2011, the system of emergency medical services will undergo changes. The aim of these changes is to reduce the time patients spend waiting for ambulances. The author proposed to use different variants of transportation problems, known from the logistics practice of businesses, to estimate the effectiveness of zoning of customers-patients. The solution to the problem of optimal zoning with the use of proposed analytical tools has been demonstrated on the example of four emergency medical services stations in Warsaw, located in the following districts: Bemowo, Ochota, Ursus and Wola.
