Abstract

The article explores the Private Equity funds in Poland and other countries of the region such as: Czech Republic, Romania and Hungary, during the years of the global economic downturn between 2008 and 2012. The first part of the publication is focused on the Polish market of private equity funds and its development over the last nearly twenty-five years. Later in the article a comparative analysis of private equity funds in these countries is presented.In the article, among others, the growth dynamics of the Private Equity market was identified in relation to a few crucial economic indicators such as GDP and its growth rate, public debt and R&D spending. These analyzes became the basis for the forecast of Private Equity Funds development in Poland in the upcoming years.
