Abstract

An ever growing group of old-age pensioners, whose retirement benefits are much lower than the income which they used to receive when they worked, searches for alternative sources of financing. A possible solution to solve a problem of the Polish potential old-age pensioner is to create mechanisms enabling them to derive financial benefits from the non-financial assets accumulated during their professional life. Such assets may be used as a source of a current additional income. One of the instruments allowing the retired to acquire additional funds is the so-called equity release. On the global markets this service has already been offered to persons in retirement age for several dozen years.
