Abstract

A multidimensional comparative analysis related to voivodships of Poland in the aspect of innovation system development in 2009–2016 is presented in the article. The voivodships rankings were prepared using the synthetic measure of innovation system development through the TOPSIS method. The results revealed large differences between the regions, in the aspect of innovation system development. The change in diversity of voivodships development in 2016 vs 2014, 2012 and 2009 was described as well. The analysis of the four pillars can be the basis for assessment of using the knowledge in the process of voivodships economic development. The presented research results, supplemented with the analysis of the remaining three pillars of the KBE, should be the initial stage for Foresight research, concerning predicting the future of the KBE development. And that may help to create regional innovation strategies and facilitate monitoring them.
