Abstract

Virtualization is a very broad concept referring to the abstraction of resources in various aspects of computerization. Virtualization allows for effective use of the existing IT equipment by modifying the features of virtualized resources according to the needs of users. It is a very broad concept and may apply to computer networks, memories, servers, operating systems, applications, workstations. Its benefits include: consolidation and better use of resources, continuity of work and quick recovery of the system environment and separation of server roles. The aim of the article is to present the essence and the potential of IT infrastructure virtualization, but first of all it is an introduction to the issues of IT infrastructure optimization and a look at them from an economic perspective. This optimization is possible thanks to the use of the latest solutions and trends in the field of modern information technologies available for enterprises, in particular popularization of virtualization technologies, not only servers, but also networks, data storage as well as the entire Data Centers.
