Abstract

The aim of the article is to explain the specifics of the process of innovation dissemination in the digital economy. The concept used to do it is based on the pattern of the process of emergence and spreading of new trends in society proposed by Vejlgaard and on Rogers’ theory of diffusion of innovation, in which the acceptance of innovations has been categorised. Determinants of the growth rate of any trend concerning new products in the area of ICT seem to be similar. Hence, I attempt to relate them to the history of the development of selected trends in the field of new technologies. It provides the basis to discuss the issue of a new perception of wealth in the digital economy.
