Abstract

The Statistical information produced by censuses and surveys does not always cover the information needs that exist and neither is it possible to always increase the size of the surveys to gather that information: such is the case for transport statistics. However, in this very area, there is a long tradition, among transport engineers, to use explicit mathematical models to produce the necessary data. But this practice ignores most often the statistical aspects of such modeling and particularly all that pertains to variation. This report is a contribution to the statistical modeling of transport problems.
