Mikroökonometrische Evaluierung berufsbezogener Rehabilitation in Schweden

Abstract

In this evaluation study the causal effects of different rehabilitation programmes on labour market outcomes are estimated simultaneously. A nonparametric matching estimator for the evaluation of multiple treatments is employed. The study is based on a sample of 6287 long-term sick individuals in Western Sweden observed during 1991 to 1994. The results indicate that, on the one hand, rehabilitation programmes prolong the sickness spell. On the other hand no positive effects of rehabilitation on re-integration into the labour market compared to non-participation are found. Among the rehabilitative programmes vocational workplace training appears superior, whereas educational training harms labour market prospects.
