Abstract

This paper seeks to analyze labour processes in one of the most dynamic Catalan rural areas during the late Ancien Régime together with the first decades of consolidation of the liberal land reforms. The characteristics of the labour process show an evident relationship with the agrarian class structure. In the context of complementary small and big holdings, we analyze the land labour, the characteristics of the seasonality - strongly conditioned by the needs of the Mediterranean trilogy -, and the labour force demand per hectare. Regarding the latter, the working days per hectolitre of wheat produced are given based on a reliable sample.
