Élites terratenientes y tipos de caciquismo. La casa de Rafal/Vía-Manuel entre la revolución liberal y la crisis de la Restauración

Abstract

This article seeks to explore the usefulness of a social history of politics. The authors study the different heritage and political strategies of several noble families against the background of social change during the Spanish liberal revolution. The article describes particular types of Caciquismin terms of their social background and their political roots, their dependence on the economic power, and the Government`s involvement in political rivalries. Popular classes would get their inspiration from the political rivalries between different oligarchies.
