El Papel De La Austeridad En La Salida De La Crisis De Los Países Periféricos De La Eurozona: Un Análisis Desde La Política Económica

Abstract

El objetivo principal de este artículo es analizar el papel de la política de austeridad en la salida de la crisis de los países que configuran la periferia de la eurozona a partir de un marco de análisis en el que se incluyen los posibles escenarios de política económica resultantes de combinar la austeridad fiscal con la devaluación interna. A partir del análisis de los escenarios viables, en el contexto institucional actual de la eurozona, se concluye que la supervivencia del euro a corto y medio plazo se dará en un escenario difuso –entre el denominado escenario Werner-Sinn y el calificado como Mezzogiorno- en el que ni se restaurará la competitividad de los países de la periferia ni un crecimiento satisfactorio que elimine el desempleo.
