Abstract

This work analyses EU financial perspectives for the development and implementation of common policies in period 2007-2013, as well as strategic orientations guiding Cohesion Policy through this period, in order to contribute to the improvement of growth, competitiveness and employment, by means of the incorporation of Lisbon Strategy’s community priorities and the express requirements of environmental sustainability agreed at the Gothenburg Council. The new context of European financing for period 2007-2013 establishes a new map for this policy in Spain, according to the development level reached by our country, which now presents a majority of regions under the Objective of Regional Competitiveness and Employment, and enjoys a transitory period to leave the Cohesion Fund, regarding Galicia, given its territorial and economic features, it is included under the Convergence Objective and is facing a critical time to reorient its strategy towards boosting development factors linked to Lisbon Strategy.
