Abstract

The paper examines the key directions of the monetary policy in Russia used to mitigate the impact of sanctions on the stability of the Russian banking system. The problems faced by commercial banks are described including the reduction of liquidity, depreciation of bank assets, shrinking profits, reduction of the number of credit institutions, suspension of payment systems operation, etc. Despite the above-mentioned, experts argue that the Russian banking system was able to withstand and overcome the difficulties At the same time, the efficiency of the banking system is a directly results from the coordination of the entire financial sphere operation and, above all, of the effective monetary and credit policy.
