The article discusses the conditions that either facilitate or hinder sustainable development of the economy. The study examines trends in the relationship between internal and external factors of development. The purpose of the work isidentifying the main threats and challenges that will determine world development in the near future. The paper discloses the content of the concept “sustainable development” and shows changes in its interpretation for a period of nearly 40 years. It argues that the constant change in productive forces, economic relations, institutional structures, etc. lead to multifaceted understanding of the concept of sustainable development. It is concluded that at the present time no one country meets all minimum criteria of sustainable development. The process of marginalization is viewed as a threat to sustainable development in the XXI century. The authoridentifies imbalances and contradictions in social and economic development that may create pitfalls to sustainable development. The author believes that in the context of ever-growing interdependence and interaction of all economic and non-economic entities, the role of global partnership focused on sustainable development becomes especially important. Статья посвящена рассмотрению условий, которые способствуют или препятствуют устойчивому развитию экономики. Предмет исследования - тенденции изменения соотношения внутренних и внешних факторов развития. Цель работы - выявление основных угроз и вызовов, которые будут определять мировое развитие в ближайшем будущем. В работе раскрыто содержание понятия «устойчивое развитие». Показано, как изменялось восприятие данного понятия на протяжении почти сорока лет. Раскрыто, что постоянные изменения производительных сил, экономических отношений, институциональной структуры и т.д. привели к формированию многоаспектного представления об устойчивом развитии. Сделан вывод о том, что в настоящее время ни одна страна не удовлетворяет минимальным критериям устойчивого развития одновременно. Процесс маргинализации рассматривается как угроза устойчивому развитию в XXI в. Определены дисбалансы и противоречия социально-экономического развития, которые приводят к ловушкам устойчивого развития. Утверждается, что в условиях усиления взаимозависимости и взаимовлияния всех экономических и неэкономических субъектов возрастает роль глобального партнерства, ориентированного на устойчивое развитие.
