Abstract

The article presents the analysis of the state and structure of the Russian market of retail banking services based on payment cards and the vital issues involved in its development. The author comes to the conclusion that it is necessary to offer new additional banking services, which are required by a mass retail client segment, as a way to achieve long-term profitability of retail banking business in general and the payment card project in particular. The author takes a favorable view of the possible use of such flexible and readily producible platform as payment cards for the implementation of the integrated banking service concept for private clients.
