Influence of mergers and acquisitions on the default risk of the acquiring firm

Abstract

The influence of the presence of free cash flow at the discretion of the managers on the change in the default risk of the acquiring firm after the merger and acquisition is investigated in this paper. The factors affecting default probability after the merger are analyzed using Merton distance to default model.
