European experience of state aid to banks under the financial crisis

Abstract

The global economic crisis has highlighted the impact of the crisis of the banking system to the real economy. The market observed a decrease in the value of banks' assets and a reduction in liquidity due to limited amounts of borrowing on the capital market. Therefore, in developed countries it is government support for the banking system had a decisive influence. The main government measures are state guarantees the obligations of banks, bank restructuring, recapitalization and nationalization of banks, purchase of distressed assets of insolvent banks. Considered and generalized are basic measures of the state aid to banking system, used by developed countries to recover financial soundness of Europe. Analyzed are peculiarities and effects of recapitalization of banking institutions under the crisis in developed countries Europe. Analyzed are reforming of the system of state regulation of the banking system of Ukraine.
