Abstract

Настоящее исследование посвящено проблеме взаимосвязи между геополитическими трансформациями и экономическим развитием. Институциональная система Российской империи и ее роль «европейского полицейского» имели негативные социально-экономические последствия для ее общества, замедлив переход страны к современному экономическому росту. Предпосылки такого перехода, как утверждают авторы, сложились в Российской империи еще в начале XIX в., но огромные расходы на армию и флот не позволили отечественной экономике перейти на индустриальные рельсы развития.
