Abstract

Когда ожидаемая экономия на покупках больше ставки заработной платы, условие оптимального поиска приводит к отрицательной предельной полезности досуга. Поиск трансформирует классический эффект дохода в индивидуальном предложении труда, и время досуга начинает дополнять время поиска. Потребители компенсируют досуг, имеющий отрицательную полезность, покупкой статусных товаров на рынках с высоким разбросом цен. Статусное потребление дополняет демонстративный досуг и создает «эффект Веблена», равно как и эффект «садоводства на борту лодки».
