Abstract

Кастовая система накладывает жесткий отпечаток на устои, традиции, психологию, образ мышления индийцев. Принадлежность к касте определяет все обычаи: внутри касты рождаются, воспитываются, вступают в брак, дают имена своим детям, обучают их, сообщают им специальные знания, отправляют все ритуальные церемонии. В статье описывается явление, которое прочно оплело всю жизнь индийского общества в культурном, социальном и экономическом плане, определив ту систему общественных отношений, которая существует в Индии со 2-го тысячелетия до н.э
