Abstract

Статья посвящена анализу экономических причин Гражданской войны в США. Предметом исследования стал чрезвычайно сложный комплекс отношений Севера и Юга. В статье анализируются причины роста сепаратизма и его последствия. Поскольку рабство в южных штатах было не единственной причиной Гражданской войны, в работе исследуются другие важнейшие экономические причины. В статье рассматриваются вопросы экономических выгод и недостатков рабства, депрессии 1861 г., изменения в сельскохозяйственном производстве и проблемы социальной активности в северных штатах. В центре внимания находятся также вопросы финансирования армий и экономические результаты войны.
