Abstract

В статье рассматриваются первые шаги научной деятельности выдающегося отечественного ученого-экономиста, питомца Санкт-Петербургского университета Владислава Иосифовича Борткевича (1868–1931), снискавшего всемирную известность как статистика. В научный оборот вводятся новые архивные материалы, связанные с петербургским периодом его жизни и деятельности. Отмечается роль Университета в его становлении как ученого. Статья приурочена к 145-летию со дня рождения В. И. Борткевича.
