From the control room to the Googleplex: ‘Innovation needs a where’

Abstract

Big Tech companies like Google have spread their priorities from city to city by integrating their products into local infrastructure and forming new public–private partnerships to manage them. This article asks what happens when co-dependence fails, and briefly reviews attempts to describe and label emerging urban-tech regimes.
