A Multi-Center, Cross- Sectional Nursing Engagement Survey Among Public Sector Nurses in Malaysia—The Research Protocol

Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive overview of the research protocol employed in a study examining nursing engagement in Malaysian public sector hospitals. The research protocol was designed to present the rationale for conducting the study and the methods applied for data collection and analysis. The study protocol has been reviewed and approved by the national medical ethical committee. This was a multicenter, cross-sectional survey of Malaysian healthcare nurses. This study aimed to investigate the impact of stressors (Work Overload and Dimensions of Perfectionism) while simultaneously assessing the mediating role of resilience and the mitigating effect of social support on nursing engagement. The sample population consisted of 762 Malaysian public healthcare nurses from four healthcare facilities in the northern region of Malaysia. Data collection was performed for 3 weeks in April 2023. Overall, the information in this research protocol assists in ensuring consistency, reproducibility, and ethical conduct in the entire research process of the cross-sectional study, focusing on nursing engagement among Malaysian public sector nurses.
