Abstract

Drawing on the Event System Theory, this study develops a comprehensive model for understanding dual-focused empowering behavior in team set-ups toward creativity. The study utilizes a triangular qualitative approach for thematic analysis using data from reviews, 5 focused group interviews, and 30 semi-structured interviews with team leaders, applying the grounded theory. The major finding reveals that empowering leadership can yield significant implications for teams in shaping creativity. The study discovers two second-order themes, 6 themes, and 18 sub-themes in interpreting the empowering leadership role. Further, the study finds a potential linkage between focusing leadership behavior and creativity at the individual and team levels.
