Issues on e-learning developments in India

Abstract

In the light of growth potential for e-learning, due to advent of Internet Technology in particular and Information Communication Technology in general; the developing countries like India should be able to exploit it to the full extent. This paper examines the need for India to embrace e-learning as a tool for education of large illiterate population and skill development of corporate sector through continuous training. The present scenario is reviewed and an account of negative and positive experiences is taken into consideration. The future potential is assessed and likely challenges of e-learning are addressed. Some of the competitive advantages for the country are highlighted.
