Today, in the quality and productivity conscious, globally competitive environment, business and business people are driving the development of Information Technology and IT is providing the business opportunities that were unheard of only ten years ago. Today, we live in a society in which information is an essential resource and where knowledge is valuable. In the present era IT has become the life giving and sustaining clement in every organisation. For survival the use of IT tools in different disciplines of management has become inevitable and there is a need to give IT a strategic orientation, as IT has emerged as a new mantra of success in today's global environment.
