Abstract

The present study seeks to examine the impact of Global Competitiveness Index (GCI) factors on itself from different dimensions and how these factors help to strengthen competition in the South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) nations over the period from 2010 to 2019 by considering annual time series data. Thus, various regression equations have been developed to fulfil the above objectives. The study has revealed that the 12 pillars of GCI have significantly impacted GCI positively, which is very significant. Even if the factors of the four subcategories of GCI have a positive and significant influence on their own categories (enabling environment, human capital, market and innovation and ecosystem), which is as expected. It has also been opined that competitiveness is an important tool for every nation to solve various problems, which leads to long-term growth and prosperity.
