Abstract

Reported here is an examination of factors that have influenced Spanish companies in Aragon in their choice of business locations. One hundred and twenty-eight industries in the province of Zaragoza were surveyed to serve as the primary source of information. The results have been generalised to the province as a whole. Industries were selected from the Register of Industrial Establishments (REI). Two types of analyses were made: an analysis of frequencies that defined the factors which had been influential in the choice of business locations in Zaragoza and a comparative analysis of hierarchisation of location factors. The results of the frequency analysis led to the conclusion that location choices were influenced by factors such as good accessibility through an efficient road network, demand in the area, qualified soil and quality and availability of productive factors. Similar results were obtained by the comparative analysis of hierarchisation.
